
Coral Innovations Seeks Postdoctoral Research Associate for NSF SBIR Phase II-Funded Water Treatment Project. Coral Innovations (formerly MFNS Tech) is excited to announce an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. A qualifying applicant can join our team for a groundbreaking NSF SBIR Phase II-funded project focused on the development, scaling, and implementation of nanotechnology-based solutions for water treatment and environmental remediation. This position is offered through the Innovative Postdoctoral Entrepreneurial Research Fellowship (I-PERF), and we are seeking highly motivated individuals to contribute to cutting-edge research addressing critical environmental challenges.
The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing Coral Innovations’ mission to combine technical innovation with sustainability and economic feasibility. The primary focus areas for this position include: quantifying the environmental impact of our technologies, conducting pilot studies and scaling up water treatment solutions, and developing manufacturing processes for large-scale applications. The position offers an excellent opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and engage in high-impact research and development.
Key Responsibilities:
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will explore a variety of nanomaterials for removing pollutants such as oil, heavy metals, and nutrients from wastewater. Other responsibilities include collaborating with the technology team to design and deploy portable water treatment prototypes, integrating life cycle analysis (LCA) and techno economic assessments (TEA) to evaluate environmental and economic sustainability, and participating in scaling up manufacturing processes for our technologies. The candidate will also evaluate product performance under real-world conditions, prepare research reports and publications, and participate in outreach activities to promote Coral Innovations’ solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, with experience in water treatment technologies and familiarity with environmental regulations. Expertise in at least one of the focus areas—water treatment, pilot-scale testing, or manufacturing—is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with life cycle analysis (LCA) and techno economic assessment (TEA) methodologies, as well as scaling up manufacturing processes for environmental systems, is preferred. Candidates with the ability to integrate sustainability metrics into research and development are highly encouraged to apply.
